The Wind Thieves Chapter 1

I ran amongst the trees, trying to escape the guards that were chasing me. They were shouting at me, cursing in another language. Yet, whatever they did or said, they would never catch up to me. I was fast. Maybe even the fastest. No one has ever beaten me yet.

I zigzagged through the trees. Not because I was lost, but because I wanted to get rid of those guys behind me. They would be a bother to my friends who were waiting not far ahead.

As the guards' voices faded, meaning they either stopped chasing me, or were left far, far behind, I started to slow down, appreciating the environment around me. The dark, mysterious forest was beautifully captivating, yet sinister. I shook my head to clear it. This wasn't the time to stop. My friends were counting on me. I had to get to them soon

I heard Hakuro’s crisp, demanding voice about a mile before I reached him. He was talking into his walkie-talkie. Not wanting to disturb him, I crept up behind him to hear what he was saying.

“...Looking good. No guards in sight. No sight of speed freak Kage anywhere either. I think he... AHHHHHHHH!!!! WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING BEHIND MY BACK?!?!”

He stood there, shaken. He really had no idea I was coming behind him. Hmm... Either his senses were getting worse, or I was getting better at creeping. I think the reason was the latter of the two. Not that I'm boasting or anything.

I grabbed the walkie-talkie. “Yo! Kage reporting in. I have the jewels in my bag and I have officially lost the guards, man. They were slower than a turtle in a thorn bush.” I reported. “And I had time to scare Hakuro. Man, what a blast! Hah! You shoulda seen the look on his face!.”

“Oh brother. Nice to hear your boasty, irritating, annoying, loud, disturbing... Hmmkph. Uh, voice again, Kage.” Chya’s voice was loud and clear in the talkie-walkie. “Good to hear that the mission went according to plan. Go and pick up the others from their safe spot. I’ll be joining you when everyone will be there. Over and out.”

“You heard what the boss said?” I asked Hakuro. “Time to get the others!”

He reculantly hopped onto my back and I started running again.

The Ice Princess Chapter 1

Oh boy. Boy oh boy oh boy. I cannot believe it! Gosh, I seriously can't! My lame as parents have decided to to take my idiot brother Shaun and I on a 'family vacation.' I mean, that stuff is like, sooo old! We're going to Nagpur. Wherever that is. I'd rather stay here in Alaska. Me, Sophie, and Sarah were planning on having a sleepover marathon. But oh no, nothing I want is going to happen, no. When I try to protest, I get a roasting.
"Rebeca Rosaline Howard! You show some respect, young lady! Our family has not had any good family time since... Forever! You are coming with us young lady. No buts! This is our final decision," my dad would always yell.

When, at last, the dreaded day came, my alarm mysteriously failed. Unfortunately, this resulted in my mum bursting through my door, and I opened my eyes to a close up of her face.
"AAAAAAAAARGH! WHAT ON DEAR MOTHER EARTH ARE YOU DOING IN MY FACE?"
"Darling, I just wanted to make sure you were up and ready to leave," my mother replied calmly in her sort of cool chinese accent, like I hadn't just screamed heaven to earth in her face. "Well hurry now, and get ready, darling. We wouldn't want to miss our flight, now, would we?" Yes we do, I sulked in my head.

I got changed; layered singlet and a cute low neck top, turquoise mini skirt, a thin striped scarf, and my favorite pair of ugg boots. That should do nicely. Reculantly, I went over my 3 suitcases again. 1st suitcase: check. Magazines and entertainment things. 2nd suitcase: check. Make up, hair dryers and curlers, etc. 3rd suitcase: check. Clothes. All my summer favorites. Apparently Nagpur is in India and is really hot, as I just found out from my parents the day before. They still made me bring a jacket and a jumper though, just in case.

I was lying on my bed, relaxing with a face mask when Dad came in.
"Ready honey? We're going in 5."
"Yea, sure sure," I just wanted to spend to last few minutes of my time at home, before I went on vacation, in peace. Little did I know that this might be the last time I will ever be home. If I had known, I would've begged Dad to let me spend a little more time at home. I might've even stayed home, instead of partying all the time.

But I didn't know, so instead of doing all those things, I picked up my suitcases and followed Dad to the living room, where Mum and Shaun were waiting. As I stepped out the door, I caught one last glimpse of my house before I was whirled away in Alaskan traffic.

The Ice Princess Prologue

The cold was starting to seep through my clothes. A flimsy polyester jacket was no match for Shenyang's cold winter. If I had known that I would end up here, I would have packed something sturdier. But there's no time to fuss about this now. I had to get to the shelter. It wasn't just about survival. My brother would die if I don't get there in time.

As I willed my feet to move faster through the snow covered forest, I heard the sound of feet trumping through the snow behind me. My heart sped up in fear. Have they already caught up to me? I thought I had at least a good 30 minutes before they realized what had happened. As the footsteps grew louder, I ducked behind a large tree and caught a glimpse of their conversation.
"...bad day... gone hiking... I know... be there soon..."

My heart calmed down. They were only hikers. Suddenly, rough hands grabbed me from behind. I tried to scream out but my captor slammed a dirty hand over my mouth, cutting me off.
"You can't run forever, sweet heart. You can't run from destiny," a sharp, nasally voice whispered in my ear.

I kicked sharply behind me, but to no prevail. It only resulted in me being grabbed harder.
"Don't try to escape, honey. You will be ours in the end. Quickly, knock her out." I didn't realize there were more people behind me. My usually sharp senses have failed my today. I managed to get a ghost of a shout out from inbetween my captor's fingers before something hit me. My eyes swam and my vision went black.

The Desert Knight Chapter 1

I was once a great, well known and feared warrior. Now, I am so humbled, even children spit and swear at me. What have I become?

I am, was, the Great Knight Ramzen. I was, until a few days ago, the King's advisor and closest friend. Now I am just one of the nobodies begging and dying on the streets. I guess I deserve this.

I was in a secret circle that planned on assassinating the King. I was their 'inner spy.' I was to keep the King's dog nose away from our stinky circle and get information on the King's whereabouts.

At the time, we thought we were doing a good deed. The King was corrupt and greedy. We thought we could do a better job. We planned and discussed, and we came up with a plan. I was to lure the King away from his feast and bring him to the river. He wouldn't bring any soldiers because he trusts me. Then, the others would jump out from the shadows and kill him.

There was one thing we didn't anticipate on. The King had somehow known about our plan. He had soldiers in waiting. When I got to the river with the King, my companions in the circle had already been captured. What I thought would be our victory became our destruction. Later, we found out that one of the newer members could not withstand the pressure and sang. The members of our circle, and our plan.

We were all due at the tower to get our heads chopped off. I had been rich, and though my fortune had been taken away from me, I had hidden a small portion away. I bribed one of the guards and he let me escape. I managed to make it to the tower gates when the fact that I was gone was discovered. I made a break for it and managed to get away. Barely.

Covered in wounds, I now stalk the streets of Malwerty, waiting for my day to come, and for the circle to be resurrected.

The Desert Knight Prologue

My bloodstained sword was heavy across my back as I dragged myself through the desert. My armour wore into bits as I walked. There was no water; my supply had run out a few hours ago. All I had for food were a few bits of moldy, stale bread and raw horse meat. My horse's carcass lay miles behind me. I had slit its miserable throat an hour ago, when it collapsed, unable to move on. At least it would provide me with some meat.

As my sweat thoroughly soaked through my hair, clothes and boots, I wondered why I was here. I couldn't remember who I was, or what I was doing, just the fact that I had to keep walking, no matter what.

The sweltering heat was getting to me. I think I could see some black dots up ahead. It was hard to tell whether they were flies or people. Anyhow, I have to try. The thought of rescue fueled my adrenalin as I trumped on. Nothing can stop me now.

As I neared the dots, I could now distinguish each dot as a faint outline of a person. Who can they be? They might be able to tell me why I was here.

The last thing I could remember before I hit the brittle sand was a shadow of a smirk and I was gone.

Somewhere Far Far Away

The sun beats down on my eyes, searing its afterimage into my brain.

I close my eyes and enter a new world.

A world where anything is possible.

Fairies flutter by and giants roam the land.

Diseases to advanced for human technology plunder through towns.

Characters from my favourite books laugh and play together.

Their enemies crawl up behind them, undetected.

My imagination.
